چکیده

Intestinal microbiota play an important role in our health by immune system modulation, nutrient and xenobiotic metabolism, and sensitivity to radiation-induced injury. The individual susceptibility of humans to radiation is poorly understood and its determination accomplished by large uncertainties in radiation exposure (and radiation risk estimation) which include radiation-quality, dose-rate effects, as well as transfer of risk across populations [1].

Protective effect of L-carnitine and vitamin E on gastrointestinal tract organs on male rats post radiation exposure

Background: Although ionizing radiation is a risk factor, it is a therapeutic agent for cancer. Objectives: The protective and defensive effect of L-Carnitine and vitamin E on gastrointestinal tract organs (liver, spleen and intestine) post whole body gamma irradiation exposure. Material and methods: 56 male albino rats, which were divided into four groups (14 rats per group); group (I): Contro...

Radio-protective effect of hydrogen rich water combined with amifostine in mice

Background:  Hydrogen has been demonstrated can selectively reduce the hydroxyl, which is the main cause of ionizing radiation-induced damage. Amifostine (AM) is the only radioprotective drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in radiotherapy. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the combined radio-protective effect of hydrogen rich water (HRW) and AM....

The Effect of Intestinal Microbiota Metabolites on HT29 Cell line by Using MTT Method in Patients with Colorectal Cancer

Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, Human guts harbor abundant microbes that adjust many aspects of host physiology.  Increasing studies show that gut microbiota plays a significant role in the incidence and expansion of CRC, as a result of virulence factors, bacterial metabolites, or inflammatory pathways. Materials and Methods: In this study, viability o...

Radio-Protective Effects of Some bis-Thiosemicarbazone Compounds

Background: GTS, PTSM and ATSM are bis-thiosemicarbazone ligands used in the preparation of copper radiopharmaceuticals. Chemical structure of these materials indicates that they should have radio-protective effects. Objective: To study the radio-protective effects of GTS, PTSM and ATSM. Methods: This study has focused on radio-protective effects of these compounds at different doses (20, 40 and...

Evaluation of Radio-Protective Effects of N-Acetylcysteine on Radiation-Induced Lethality in Mice

Introduction It has long been known that ionizing radiation can lead to detrimental effects in normal cells. In this light, Radioprotective chemicals have been used to decrease morbidity or mortality caused by ionizing irradiation. This study aimed to evaluate the radio-protective effect of N-acetylcysteineagainst radiation-induced mortality in male mice. Materials and Methods 52 healthy mal...
